Herbert Wright Hatt was born on 20 July 1880, in Newport, Vermillion County, Indiana, to William Albert and Susannah Hollingsworth Hatt.

There were four children in the family including Herbert. The children were Herbert, Prince Albert, Burton Monroe "Bertie," and Cynthia Ethel (Lynn,Pyle). There was also a half-sister, Ida Jane Hatt (Stevens, Reilly), who was probably raised by her paternal grandparents, Joseph Franklin and Cynthia Ann McKinsey Hatt.

Herbert married Sarah Abigale Wilson, on 22 April 1905, in Kokomo, Howard County,Indiana. There were at least two known children born of their union, Herbert Wright, Jr., and Carl W. Hatt. Herbert also adopted his second wife's son who was born Lawrence Lee "Larry" Redick.

It is known that Herbert and Sarah divorced, but remarried on 4 March 1907. However there must have been another divorce because in ca 1942, Herbert married Ida M. Pascal, Swaim,Redick.

Herbert Wright Hatt died on 28 May 1964 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana. He was buried on 31 May 1964 in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, Madison County, Indiana.

HERBERT HATT
Funeral services for Herbert W. Hatt, 83 of 1507 W. 12th St., retired toolmaker at Delco-Remy, will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Irondale Church of God by the Rev. Jeff W. Webb of Midland, Mich., former pastor here, assisted by the Rev. Clifton Braschler, present pastor. Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Brown and Butz Funderal Home after 7 p.m. today, and after 2 p.m. Saturday. The Fellowship Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at the mortuary at 8 p.m. Saturday. The body will lie in state at the church an hour before the service.

Mr. Hatt died very early Thursday morning after a two-months illness. He was a member of the Irondale Church of God, Gayuga Masonic Lodge 584, and was a charter member of the Senior Citizens.

A native of Newport, Ind., he was born July 20, 1880, and had resided in Anderson for the past 40 years, coming here from Kokomo.

Survivors include the widow, Ida Marie; two sons, Carl Hatt and Larry Hatt, both of Anderson; a step-daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Shanks of Anderson; a brother, Prince A. Hatt, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Pyle, both of Kokomo; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
