His first wife, Deborah Ann Swaim, was also his second cousin.

He enlisted in Sevier Co., Ark., in 1861, in Co. F, Hardiman's Regt. Was discharged Aug. 9, 1865, at Marshall, Texas. Married in 1861[Actually, he was married two times, once in 1859, then in 1872-GS], he died in Prentiss Co., Miss., November 28, 1902.

Note: The tombstone has 1903 death year but his wife stated on her pension application that he died in 1902. If 1903 is correct, he died 15 days before his brother Jesse died in Murchison, Henderson County, Texas.
