Burton Monroe "Bert" Hatt was born in Newport, Vermillion County, Indiana on 7 June 1886, to William Albert and Susannah Hollingsworth Hatt. His obituary has his birth listed as 7 June 1890, however my records have 1886 and his tombstone shows 1886.
There were three siblings in his home, Prince Albert, Herbert Wright and his sister Cynthia Ethel (Lynn,Pyle). Burton also had a half-sister, Ida Jane Hatt (Stevens, Reilly), who could have been raised by their grandparents, Joseph Franklin and Cynthia Ann McKinsey Hatt. She was not listed as a survivor in his obituary, however she did not die until 20 May 1962 in Livingston County, Illinois.
Bert married his first wife Laurel Edith Ellis on 16 November 1907 in Howard County, Indiana. The four children born of their union before the marriage ended in divorce, were Lauree, Susannah Belle "Susie," Hazel Helena, and Charles Allen Hatt.
Mildred "Millie" Christenberry became the second wife of Burton Monroe "Bert" Hatt on 7 April 1917 in Grant County, Indiana. There were no children born of their union.
Bert Hatt died on 28 January 1956.

Survivors include his wife, the former Millie Christenberry Wasson; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Wiles of Kokomo; two step-sons, Clifford and Paul Wasson of Kokomo; one sister, Mrs. William Pyle, of Kokomo; two brothers, Herbert of anderson, and Prince of Kokomo, and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren. His first wife, Edith, and a son, Charles, are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beamer Methodist Church with the Rev. W. J. Briggs officiating, assisted by the Rev. Everett Ringelson.
Friends may call at the Ellers Funeral Chapel from 5 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding services.
