Henry P Ellertsen, Black Hawk Indian war veteran and the oldest man in Mt. Pleasant, died at the family home after a brief illness of pneumonia.
Despite his advanced age Mr. Ellertsen had been in good health and keen mentality.
He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, October 6, 1844 a son of John and Christina Lund Ellertsen.
He came to Utah with his parents and two younger sisters, Julia and Rosetta, in 1855. After their arrival in Utah, the family lived two years in Salt Lake and eight years in Spanish Fork before settling in Spring City with the early settlers of that community in 1865.
Mr. Ellertsen married Miss Olena Andersen of Spring City in 1871 and they lived in Spring City until 1901, when they moved to Mt. Pleasant.
He was an active worker in the L. D. S. church, performing a mission in Missouri in 1867-68. Since the death of his wife, December 3, 1925, he had lived alone.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Julia F. Spencer, San Francisco; Mrs. Hulda E. Kay, Mona; Mrs. Nora E. Kay, Provo and Mrs. Neola E. Hansen, Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Robinson, Salt Lake, and Mrs. Rosetta Burdick, Carey, Idaho; two brothers, John Ellertsen, Santaquin and Ephraim Ellertsen, Provo; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
