In the fall of 1977 my parents bought a new Cadillac. Aunt Lena and Howard were here and she fell in love with that car. She says they are going to buy one just like it when they get back to Peoria. She called at Christmas to tell my Dad they found one almost identical and she was so excited for him to see their new car. They would come after the first of the year for the weekend. On January 7, 1978 it was exceptionally warm and a heavy fog developed. They left Peoria very early and stopped at Lincoln, Il for coffee. Returning to the interstate she did not see this truck because of the heavy fog and he t-boned the car drivers side and she died at the scene. My Dad was crushed. Uncle Howard practically lived at the cemetery; visiting sometimes twice a day the first few years after her death. But he finally met someone and remarried in 1984. Ironically he died in a car accident on Sept. 7, 1991.
