Daniel Wayman Pittman was born on 10 Jan 1893 to Isaac Marion and Leila A (Hooper) Pittman. The family resided in Cobb County.

When World War I broke out, Daniel registered. His rank was Private First Class, U. S. Army, and he served with the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.

Daniel died on the battlefield in France helping to preserve the freedom and safety of those he loved at home. He is buried in Asine-Mame American Cemetery, Belleau, Departement de Meurthe-et-Moselle, Lorraine, France.
