Mabel Mae Webster was born 16 Jan 1903, the 5th of 7 children born to Edward Leo Webster and Louisa Orr Webster. During her early years her father was a farmer, variously in Ft. Lupton, CO, Thayer, KS, and Wheatland, WY. In 1917 her father sold the last farm in Wyoming with enough money to buy a large many-bedroom home at 969 Lipan St. in Denver. Thereafter her dad worked primarily as a carpenter and her mother turned the home into a boarding house. Mabel graduated from West Denver High School and began working as a seamstress, mostly at Daniels-Fisher Department store in Denver, making custom clothing. Her dad died accidentally in 1930, falling from a scaffold, so her income was needed to help support the family. She met and married Carl Anderson (1935) and continued to improve her sewing skills. In 1948 she and Carl moved to Los Angeles. Mabel was lured there to work for a couture clothing company called "Madame Miller Clothing" which catered to the Hollywood crowd.
Carl (who had a history of heart disease) died unexpectedly in 1955 from a massive coronary occlusion at the age of 49. Mabel moved back to Denver shortly after Carl's death, needing to reconnect with family. She worked again for Daniels-Fisher and other clothiers. She and her sister, Myrtle, bought a duplex on South Washington Street and lived there the remainder of their lives. She died following surgery for a cerebellar (brain) tumor. Mabel had no children.
