located in the near South St. Louis County suburb of Lemay, MO (one mile south of the St. Louis City Limits) is a non-sectarian, perpetual care cemetery founded in 1910 that features traditional grave monument lots, lawn-level bronze and granite marker sections, and the oldest public mausoleum in South St. Louis County, designed by Sidney Lovell AIA and built in 1929 (with two additional phases added in 1968 and 2002). The cemetery also features a new, modern crematorium with interior cremation columbarium niches (glass-front and closed front). Decorative mosaic panels are displayed on the outside garden mausoleum walls. Mount Hope Cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
NOTE: As of 5/24/12, the cemetery will not accept walk in requests or phone requests for geneaology or family history information. Their policy is the Requester must send in a self-addressed stamped envelope and $2.00 and all the info they have on who there looking for and in return the cemetery will send all the info they have back to the requester. They will send grave site info and a map of where grave is located. This is for geneology / family history requests only.
They provide maps daily in their office at no charge for those who are visiting.
